The South Lake Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the City of Minneola, hosted the highly anticipated Minneola Mountain Properties Forum and Reception on Thursday, October 5th, in Lake Minneola High School’s Auditorium. This event brought together over 200 local business leaders and South Lake residents to unveil and discuss the exciting proposed plans for developing Minneola Mountain Properties.

City of Minneola Mayor Pat Kelley took center stage to lead an engaging and informative discussion that provided attendees with valuable insights into Minneola’s past, present, and future. Mayor Kelley began by explaining the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) concept and highlighted the significant benefits it has brought to the city. The CRA program has enabled Minneola to define a district where future increases in property values will be allocated to support vital economic development projects within the area.

The event featured a presentation led by Tara Tedrow of Lowndes Law Firm, who delivered the details of the exciting development projects planned for Minneola. Attendees were captivated by the vision for the city, which includes mixed-use commercial spaces with residential units above, a modern grocery store, state-of-the-art medical offices, a wellness center, a 155-key hotel, and much more. Kevin Skorman, Owner of Skorman Development, a trusted partner with the city, expressed his enthusiasm for spearheading these transformative projects.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation by Kay Barnett of AdventHealth, who shared plans for a full-service hospital set to break ground in 2024. The hospital, located on a 30-acre property at the Northwest corner of the Florida Turnpike and Hancock Rd, promises to be a significant addition to the region’s healthcare infrastructure.

Tara Tedrow also unveiled the development of Crooked Can, scheduled to begin construction in 2024 and open its doors in 2025. This 35,000-square-foot brewery, taproom, and food hall will provide an exciting destination where families can spend quality time together.
