On the morning of Friday, November 17, 2023, the South Lake Chamber of Commerce hosted a highly anticipated November Chamber Breakfast that left attendees inspired and informed about the exciting developments in their community. The event’s highlight was a compelling address by AdventHealth’s Vice President of Strategy and Emerging Operations, Kay Barnett, who shared significant updates and plans for AdventHealth in the South Lake region.

Ms. Barnett commenced her presentation by expressing gratitude for the support and collaboration AdventHealth has received from the South Lake community. She proudly highlighted the numerous accolades the healthcare giant has earned, emphasizing their commitment to delivering exceptional care and service to the region. A significant highlight of Ms. Barnett’s address was the announcement of AdventHealth’s thriving local partnerships. With more than 35 collaborations formed with local businesses and organizations, the community can look forward to strengthened ties and enhanced healthcare services tailored to the unique needs of South Lake residents.

The most exciting revelation of the morning was the groundbreaking news of the AdventHealth Minneola Hospital, scheduled to commence construction in December 2023. This state-of-the-art facility will boast 80 beds, four operating rooms, and 24 ER bays, ensuring the community can access comprehensive, cutting-edge healthcare services.

The AdventHealth Minneola Hospital is a beacon of health and a source of economic growth for the South Lake region. Ms. Barnett shared that the hospital will generate over 400 new jobs, spanning leadership positions, clinical roles, and various non-clinical opportunities. This is a powerful stride towards stimulating employment and career opportunities within the local community.

The Chamber was treated to an inspiring address from Jason Siegel, the President & CEO of GO Sports Commissions. Mr. Siegel took the stage to share the exciting world of sports in South Lake, highlighting the diverse and thrilling events that contribute to the community’s dynamic spirit. Mr. Siegel’s address highlighted the electrifying announcement of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon. Scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 3, 2024, in Orlando, Florida, this event promises to showcase athleticism and determination with an expectancy of more than 100,000 spectators. During the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon, around 175 men and 175 women will participate in the hopes of representing the United States in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Only three men and three women will be chosen to compete in the international competition, making for an intense and exhilarating event.
