The Ray Goodgame Outstanding Student Leader Award, presented by the South Lake Chamber of Commerce, honors students in the South Lake area, who like Ray, serve as a champion for our community. The Chamber was honored to present the award to Anaum Jaweed Virani of East Ridge High School.

Anaum is an AP student that has completed 18 AP courses and holds a GPA of 4.95. She has been named a Coca Cola Scholarship National Semi-finalist, AP Scholar with Distinction & Capstone Diploma, National Security Language Initiative for Youth Department of State Scholarship Winner and Hershey Heartwarming Action Grant Winner.

Anaum is a member of student government and has served as Vice President freshman through junior year. Additionally, she has participated in the Newspaper Club, Hi-Q Trivia Club, HOSA and founded the Politics Club. Anaum also worked with Lake County School Superintendent, Diane Kornegay, to launch a school board student advisory council.

Within the community, Anaum is the chair of Florida High School Democrats, she is a volunteer attorney with the Lake County Teen Court Diversion Program, Mosque Youth Group Leader and an Arabic tutor. Anaum also works approximately 20 hours each week.
