The Lake County Tax Collector is the only official provider of registration renewals for Lake County. There are many ‘unofficial’ websites on the internet that offer tag renewal services. Using these websites can result in paying extra fees beyond statutorily regulated renewal costs and delayed renewal processing times, as this information is not sent directly to our office or in some cases, at all. Some websites will charge an excess of $50.00 for a courier-type service, essentially taking your information and delivering it to a tax office for you, usually in another county. These websites can be misleading to customers. Please be cautious with whom you are sharing private information such as your address, driver’s license information, and date of birth. We encourage customers to only share personal information with the Tax Collector’s office when renewing your registration. The office of the Lake County Tax Collector publishes this notice to encourage citizens of Lake County to renew through our website directly.

Customers should follow the instructions on the notice they receive in the mail from our office to the correct website. The official website can be accessed by going to www.laketax.com. Customers also have the option of using our ExpressLane feature. ExpressLane allows you to choose the location you want to pick up your vehicle registration renewal(s).
