Clermont is among America’s 15 best lake towns, according to Travel + Leisure.

Clermont is the only city in Florida – and one of three cities in the southeast – to make the list published June 18 to the popular travel magazine’s website. The article touts Clermont’s lakes, vibrant downtown and proximity to Orlando.

“We are excited to receive this national recognition,” Interim City Manager Susan Dauderis said. “Clermont’s lake-centered lifestyle has put us on the map with our waterfront trails and parks, stunning sunsets and variety of water recreation within steps of our vibrant downtown.”

Locations were selected based on Travel + Leisure staff’s recommendations of places they have visited. Clermont, Lake County’s largest city and one of Central Florida’s fastest growing cities, is known for its pristine lakes and picturesque hills, as well as its Choice of Champions brand.

“When you’re not exploring the surrounding lakes, enjoy the small-town charms of Clermont, from the Downtown Clermont Farmer’s Market every Sunday to the shopping along Montrose Street,” the article said.

Clermont’s downtown, recently revitalized by the city’s award-winning Downtown-Waterfront Master Plan, is strategically located at the foothills of Lake Minneola.

“These towns are not only right on the waterfront of the country’s clearest and most sought-after lakes – they have bustling town centers and lively culture within,” the article said.

Along its waterfront, the City of Clermont offers fishing piers, playgrounds, picnic areas, a scenic boardwalk, a splash park, and a white sand beach. A variety of events take place near or in the lake, including triathlons, festivals, rowing, canoe and kayak championships, dragon boat races and more.
