Enjoy the end of summer with kids’ storytime in the park.

Join the City of Clermont for Park Tales at 10 a.m. Tuesdays July 20 through Aug. 3 at Palatlakaha Park, 1250 12th St.

This new, free event for preschoolers and elementary-age children includes storytime, crafts and playtime.

“We are excited to offer this fun outdoor storytime for our young Champions,” Parks and Recreation Director Scott Davidoff said. “Park Tales promotes literacy while encouraging children to spend time in the park.”

Each program starts with storytime under the pavilion. Selections include “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle on July 20; “1, 2, 3, Do the Dinosaur” by Michelle Robinson and Rosalind Beardshaw on July 27; and “How to Catch a Mermaid” by Adam Wallace and Andy Elkerton on Aug. 3.

Following storytime, staff will lead activities and crafts inspired by each book’s theme. For example, after “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” reading, kids can gather nature supplies, go on a bug hunt and make butterfly art with leaves.

Children can continue the fun at the city’s state-of-the-art Park Pals playground.

All materials will be provided at the program and parents will have plenty of table space under the pavilion to watch. No reservations are required; simply show up to participate.
