The City of Clermont’s signature event got a bit of a makeover this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Light Up Clermont 2020’s holiday tree lighting will be streamed virtually and the parade has been replaced with a village of decorated trees and a cookie and cocoa walk downtown. This year’s theme is Holiday Enchanted Forest.

“The City of Clermont is excited to offer different activities that our residents and visitors can safely enjoy with their families during COVID-19,” Clermont Parks and Recreation Director Scott Davidoff said. “We encourage people to social distance, wear face coverings and follow other guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention while celebrating the joy of the season.”

Join the city on your device at 6 p.m. Fri., Dec. 4 to count down to the City Hall Plaza holiday tree lighting and watch special messages from Clermont City Council and the community. To see the pre-recorded ceremony, tune in to the City of Clermont’s YouTube channel at www.YouTube.com/CityOfClermontGovernment or their Facebook page, www.Facebook.com/CityOfClermont.

Visit the Holiday Enchanted Forest daily until 10 p.m. from Sat., Dec. 5 through Jan. 3, 2021 at Victory Pointe Park, 938 Victory Way. Schools, organizations, businesses and families will showcase their creativity by individually decorating over 40 trees; those interested in participating may download the entry form at www.ClermontFL.gov/events. The display will feature music nightly to set the holiday atmosphere. Have your cameras ready; this will be the perfect holiday photo opportunity. Plus, the kids can sign, seal and let the city deliver their letters to the North Pole at Santa’s Mailbox onsite.

The Cookies and Cocoa Walk will be 6-9 p.m. Fri., Dec. 11 in Downtown Clermont. Take an evening stroll to sample a variety of holiday cookies along with some yummy cocoa while visiting businesses downtown; stay tuned for a list of participants. The night is sure to be magical and sweet.

Make sure to visit shops in Downtown Clermont throughout the season; many will compete, but only one will win the trophy for best Holiday Enchanted Forest-themed decorations.
