This year, the breakfast event was split into two days of celebration, honoring the Elementary school teachers on Monday, August 7 and the Middle school and High school teachers on Tuesday, August 8.
In total, the two-day event honored over 1,500 teachers (750 per day) and with the support of local businesses and organizations, the committee was able to hand out over $40,000 in door prizes and gifts to the teachers.
Representatives from the Lake County School board made an appearance both days, and Presenting Sponsor, CEMEX shared on-going education initiatives they offer.
New this year, the committee presented three schools (one elementary, one middle, and one high school) with a $2,000 school fund to go towards whatever financial needs the school may have. The winning schools were: Sawgrass Bay Elementary, Clermont Middle School, and South Lake High School.
In addition to the school fund, Spirit awards were handed out to Minneola Elementary School, Cecil E. Gray Middle School, South Lake High School and East Ridge High School. Each of these schools won a Kona Ice Party for showing the most school spirit. The Spirit Awards were sponsored by Modern Orthodontics and Senninger Irrigation, Inc.
