South Lake Survey
The South Lake Chamber of Commerce survey was completed by 124 respondents. 71 of the surveys were completed by hand while
53 were completed electronically. Only those responding electronically had the comment option. That section was deleted from
the paper version to expedite the completion.

Averages and Feedback
- 95% of the respondents are members.
- The non-members will receive follow up from staff regarding joining.
- 33% have been in business 1-5 years. The next group, 25% have been in business 20+ years.
- 65% have been in business less than 10 years.
- 53% have 1-5 employees and 16% (representing 20 of the respondents) have more than 60 employees.
- 66% have less than 10 employees; 75% have less than 20 employees.
- 71% responded the Chamber can help create jobs and recruit new businesses.
- 86% said we can create a positive community image.
- 57% said we can influence local, state and national governments.
- 86% are either very satisfied (47%) or satisfied (39%) with the Chambers response to their inquiry or need.
- Health insurance was the most desired service a Chamber could provide, followed by cellular service and travel discounts
.
- The issues facing our business community include growth, employment/employees, lead generation, advertising and insurance costs.
- The suggestions to address the aforementioned issues include training and seminars, leads group development, EDC support, lobbying, referrals and blanket insurance policies.
- The majority participates in the breakfast. (the survey was distributed at 2 breakfasts which may have impacted the response.)
- Second highest participation was the Business After Hours and then the New Member Orientation.
- The Certifichecks program had the highest “unaware” response. This program needs redevelopment.
- New program development included 48% interested in the Casino night and 50% very interested in Business Awards Luncheon.
- 47% prefer email communication.
- 78% or 90 people love the Business Beat. Most read the paper product with a small percentage 7.9% reading it online.
- 83% read the email blasts.
- 64% use the printed directory
- 48% use the chamber website, 16% did not know we had a website.

- The Chamber strengths were defined as Networking, New members and communications.
- The areas in need of improvement include referrals and lead development and additional networking opportunities.
