South Lake is home to a diverse business community that includes South Lake Hospital,  the area's largest employer with more than 1,000 employees who work at the 180-acre health, wellness and education campus that provides cutting-edge medical care.

Other key South Lake employers include: Lake County Public Schools, municipal governments and the agritechnology, hospitality, construction, legal, B2B services and retail industries. There are about 3,700 businesses and 25,000 employees in South Lake. Key industries and number of workers include: Healthcare (1,989), Food Service (1,835), Construction (850), Manufacturing (753) and Wholesale (601).
